Students conceive of a film sequence that tells the story of Europe’s path to World War II. They learn about the conditions and events leading to the war, watch clips from historical films, and explore the impact of film on our understanding of history.
Length: 10 50-minute sessions
Unit Project Description
Students assume the role of filmmakers and work in teams to conduct historical research on the interwar years. Student teams create visual timelines of events between the years 1919 and 1939, develop a written storyboard for a film scene from an event on their timeline, present their storyboards, and describe the relevance fo their chosen scene to the outbreak of World War II.
