Activity 3A.1: More Principles of Animation

Most good animated movies will include examples of anticipation, exaggeration, staging, and secondary action. Again, you might show students classic Disney films—Fantasia in particular has some excellent and dramatic staging. Hayao Miyazaki’s movies (such as Princess Mononoke) also include dramatic staging. For exaggeration, good examples include short animations by Tex Avery and Looney Tunes.
