Unit 6: Games for Good

From the course: Foundations in Visual Arts

Students bring together everything they have learned about concept art, storytelling, and character development to plan a video game about an issue that interests them. They study art and media that contain social messages and investigate how the design and visual elements of video games can teach audiences about an issue.

Unit Project Description

The unit project is to develop a game idea, along with sketches and finished artwork of the game’s setting and characters. The end of the unit offers an option for students to present their issue and game ideas to classmates or community members.

Unit Supplement

The unit supplement includes additional information about essential activities, notes on timing, one or more activities to support students' developing art practice, sample rubrics, and differentiation strategies.
